Target Audience:

This series of courses provides for all those who work in Criminal Justice, Youth Justice, Probation, Courts, Prisons,  Hostels and independent and partnership agencies.

Objectives

By the end of the courses, participants will:

  • Receive, by presentation and exercises, information on relevant Justice or Social Care topics

  • Explored how the brain works in relation to change and dissonance

  • Received information on Motivational or Cognitive theories and techniques in relation to risk and management of offenders

  • Be introduced to Socratic questioning and have the opportunity to practice techniques

  • Discussed and explored dealing with those who exhibit difficult attitudes and how to supervise and manage successfully and assertively

  • Receive techniques and opportunity to think laterally and creatively when dealing with problems, possibilities and new ideas

  • Receive practice and information in working in court arenas, prisons and offender based establishments

  • Rehearsed management, supervision and support techniques

  • Explored, by case examples, various scenarios for working with people

  • Receive supporting laminates, checklists and handouts to consolidate learning
