Dealing with Difficult Behaviour

This one-day event will provide a clear and simple introduction to working with people who exhibit difficult or aggressive behaviour. The event explores the roots and reasons why people are 'difficult', and offers information and techniques to deal with difficult behaviour successfully. This course is suitable for all those who manage or supervise staff or clients in either the public or private sector. This course does not include techniques in physical restraint.

Target Audience:

This course is for all those who manage and or supervise staff, clients or customers who can exhibit difficult behaviour or situations.

Objectives

By the end of the courses, participants will:

  • Explores the roots and theories of anger, aggression and difficult behaviours

  • Receive Cognitive Behaviour techniques in dealing with difficult behaviour

  • Identify and discuss specific examples of difficult situations

  • Participate in discussion and exercises in problem solving methods regarding difficult behaviour

  • Explore negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Explore the differences between assumption, perception and reality

  • Receive introduction to Assertiveness techniques
