Appearing in court as a witness or agency representative can be intimidating if you are not used to doing so. This two-day Court Skills course will prepare you for court experience. The event will identify court roles, etiquette, and how to present information. It will also enable you to effectively deal with challenge and questions, helping to make you more confident about being in court. The course will offer the opportunity for rehearsal in presenting information to Magistrates, Youth and Crown Courts. The course operates in a comfortable and safe learning environment.

Target Audience:

This course provides for all those non-legally trained persons who work in organisations that require attendance in court to represent offenders, social care clients and vulnerable victims.

Objectives

By the end of the courses, participants will:

Receive information on the Magistrates, Youth and Crown Court structures
Explore participants' beliefs and attitudes towards courts and court users
Identify 'who does what' in court
By discussion and exercise, explore the differences between opinion and fact
Prepare and deliver a rehearsal on presenting information in court
Increase confidence in dealing with challenge in court
Explore and identify how to work with other agencies
